This course on parabolas aims to enhance students' understanding of parabolas.
It will be shown that all parabolas are similar and can be obtained from the basic parabola by a combination of transformations (such as translations - that is shifting the basic parabola vertically and/or horizontally -, stretching, and reflection along the x-axis).
Completing the square of the given function term of the quadratic function and thus finding its the vertex form will show the transformation(s) applied and inform on the shape and opening of the parabola.
Hence, the x coordinate and the y coordinate of the vertex can be obtained from the vertex form.
