A place value chart is a essentially a table, in which you put all digits of a decimal number and label them. The names of the digits can be abbreviated, e.g.:
ones (O), tens (T), hundreds (H), and so on for the integer part,
or tenths (t), hundredths (h), thousandths (th) for the decimal places.
As an example, the decimal number 1589.736, put into a decimal chart, reads:
... | Th | H | T | O | . | t | h | th | ... |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 5 | 8 | 9 | . | 7 | 3 | 6 |
